YetiCon is a community-driven Old School 93/94 Magic: The Gathering event in Denver, Colorado.

This year’s YetiCon theme, will be “Death” and all things metal.

WHEN IS THIS:

Saturday, October 19, 2024 — 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 a.m. (Old School Main event).

Sunday, October 20, 2024 — 11:30 a.m. – complete (Sorcery Contested Realm).

MAGIC OS PARTICIPANT CAP & INFO:

This event will cap at 64 players.

TOURNAMENT STRUCTURE:

Straight swiss into a top 4 or 8.

DECK CONSTRUCTION:

• Mountain ruleset.
• Typical American-style reprint allowances: all original art, original frame, non-foil printings (including Revised, 4th/Chronicles, FBB/FWB, CE/IE, WC, APs) are allowed.
• 1 proxy permitted. (Please ensure it looks as indistinguishable as possible from the original in frame/art).
• Cards/proxies previously acquired at a YetiCon are legal. (e.g. Casa of Brass)

Mountain Ruleset is a new, evolving ruleset, that will be used to test/adjust which rules make for a better old school experience. This year we will follow the table below. “Death” themed errata will be spoiled as we move closer to the event. You will receive Death Errata’d cards as a part of your entry.

SORCERY PARTICIPANT CAP & INFO:

This event will cap at 32 players.

TOURNAMENT STRUCTURE:

Straight swiss/Best of one rounds.

We will do our best to offer judging on site.

Sorcery Rulebook

DECK CONSTRUCTION:

This will run as a Constructed event, players need an Avatar, a 40 card spell book, and 20 Atlas cards as described in the Sorcery Rulebook.

There will be no ban list. Tear up Eric’s Curiosa at your own expense! Blow a minion with Chaos Twister at your own peril! Or feel free to use the orb flip method we use in Old School!

Overall winners of the top 4 will receive pledge pack cards. More prizes will be offered including Beta packs for all entrants, prize wheel shenanigans, and charity raffle table!

Special Guest Artists!

For this year, we are very excited to announce that we will be joined by Kev Brockschmidt! This is Kev’s first official Old School event experience so please help us welcome him and make it a very special one! Kev will be offering a custom, one of a kind, art for auction as a part of our charity auction.

While this is still TBD – we are hoping to also have a return visit by Dan Frazier this year, and a full day of access to Kyle Blankenship/Scourge Alters! I will release information surrounding these additional artists and their attendance as soon as possible.

FOOD:

This year we will be offering an all-day menu for Saturday, Snacks, Lunch, and Dinner will be included with your price of admission. The brewery has an onsite pizzeria for any additional food wants/needs, but my goal will be that no one goes hungry at any point during the event!

Sunday we will provide coffee and donuts as well as leftover snacks but lunch and evening treats will be at your discretion.

DRINKS:

One drink included in your entry fee. The venue has a full bar and non-alcoholic options.

NON-REFUNDABLE ENTRY FEE:

$93.94, which includes door entry swag, food (all day), 1 drink, and evening treats.

PARKING:

Parking is available in the surrounding area.

However, please be reminded to not leave valuables in your car, and rideshare if you can!

SPECIAL NOTES:

CHARITY RAFFLE: Will be held with tickets purchasable on site. Cash/Venmo/Paypal.

We will run through raffle prizes after swiss rounds have concluded to allow for a break in the action.

ORB FLIP CONTEST: We will hold an orb flip contest at the end of the main event. Practice those flips!

Sorcery Sealed:

Sorcery Sealed Draft/Crack packs after Old School has concluded on Saturday. Magic cubes may also be fired into the late evening.
